The ATP adheres to the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes. Applications to become a member of ATP assume that individuals adhere to these principles according to the ATP Constitution.

Full membership of ATP is open to anyone who is a current Tongue-tie Practitioner and is regulated by a governing body i.e. Registered Health Professional e.g. a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC); General Medical Council (GMC) and General Dental Council (GDC). If regulation is not through the above governing bodies, the applicant will need to demonstrate by written confirmation from their regulatory body, that regulation will be provided to undertake the procedure of frenulotomy. Registration to a governing body will be checked on an annual basis

Every full member who is if working independently from the NHS must be able to demonstrate that they have professional indemnity insurance to perform frenulotomy. The ATP will assume that this insurance continues for the duration of ATP membership. It is recommended that parents ask to see evidence of current indeminty insurance before engaging the services of a private practitioner.

Affiliate membership of the Association of Tongue-tie Practitioners (ATP) is open to health professionals (for example nurses, midwives, HVs, doctors, dentists, osteopaths, speech and language therapists) and breastfeeding supporters (including breastfeeding peer supporters, breastfeeding counsellors, and lactation consultants) who have an interest or role in supporting parents of babies with tongue-tie and would like to benefit from sharing professional experiences.

Non payment of ATP annual subscriptions
Please note, if your subscription expires eg due to non-payment you will be reminded twice via email and if we do not receive any communication or directions from you, your membership will be terminated. A charge of 10 in addition to your over-due subscription will be required to re-instate your membership.
