THE ANNUAL COMPLICATIONS AUDIT IS NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSION:
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 31ST MARCH 2026
https://forms.gle/YADxpdK9C5Xn4XFXA
Every year, the ATP collects data from practitioners to help build a national picture of known risks and complications associated with frenulotomy procedures in infancy.
Participation is open to both private and NHS services.
The information is compiled from data submitted by our members and presented in comparable graphs, alongside the annual summaries below. This data helps guide how we as individual release providers communicate with families about the evidence and risks related to the procedure. Families rely on this shared information when we are discussing risks to the procedure. Therefore, it is important that as many practitioners as possible contribute. High participation ensures our discussions reflect real-world experiences and allow us to provide families with balanced, reliable information.
It is good practice for individual members to be aware of their own statistics to be able to provide accurate information to the families you consent to the surgical procedure too; the ATP is asking that the same data is shared anonymously to us. This information can be used by our members for their own statistics but also for your benchmarking purposes, CQC (or your equivalent regulatory body) may request to see your statistics at your inspection and could be considered to be an NMC requirement too-‘Prioritising safety’. Families viewing the ATP website may also find it beneficial in their decision making prior to attending a consultation.
To help collate your data it is suggested that members monitor their data at regular intervals against the common factors/questions which then is submitted annually in the first quarter of each year, for presentation at our AGM, to allow for annual comparisons.
As an optional support, tools to collate data are found below, alongside the current set of questions.
We are open to adding in additional questions for the year ahead should you have a specific interest in a particular topic, if so please contact adverseevents@tongue-tie.org.uk for consideration.
ATP members will be updated by email when the audit team is ready for your submissions
Thank you

ATP Complications Audit 2025
Start SurveyIt’s the time of year again when ATP collects data from its members working both privately and for the NHS to help build a national picture of known risks and complications as well as some other useful data. This information helps guide how we as tongue-tie practitioners communicate with families about the evidence and risks related to the tongue-tie division procedure. It also helps families viewing the ATP website to be better informed before attending a consultation. Higher participation ensures more reliable and balanced information, so we want to encourage as many practitioners as possible to contribute.
Keeping your own personal statistics is useful to share with your clients too and may be required by your regulatory bodies. ATP have developed monthly / weekly collection tools which you can find in the members area of the website.

AUDIT RESULTS SUMMARYCOVID-19 PPE SURVEY 2020
The following survey has been developed to better understand the struggles exclusively bottle formula fed babies and their caregivers face. Please help us by participating in the survey directly by using the link or the QR code as below and have your voice heard!
https://forms.gle/XmvNWLN5uKzwCFoH6
Here is a suggested wording for an email to be sent out by practitioners for you to copy and re-purpose:
Dear Parent,
I hope your baby is doing well after the tongue-tie division four weeks ago. There is very little research available on the impact of tongue-tie on bottle fed babies. The Association of Tongue-tie Practitioners are hoping to gather information from across the UK via this parent survey.
https://forms.gle/XmvNWLN5uKzwCFoH6
This will provide information on how tongue-tie impacts bottle fed babies, how tongue-tie division may help improve feeding for them and provide data on how effective tongue-tie division is in bottle fed babies.
I would be very grateful if you would contribute to this short survey.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact:-
